When facebook first came out, I was ecstatic. Myspace was getting a bit overrated, the spyware floating around myspace was killing me, and I was getting sick of all the spam and ads on the site. I wanted something clean, neat, and simple and Facebook was IDEAL. Not only was there a sleek exterior, but the layout was universal. Everyone had the same page –  there was simply no way around it. Thus, the focus was really on the actual person and not on the design of the page. And trust me, myspace’s themes were getting ridiculously overkill; sometimes even made my computer crash.

Well, now the time has come and I have to admit that even facebook is getting too “commercial” with all their applications and invitations left and right. I’m a little old school in the sense that I stray away from anything remotely complicated. For me, facebook is just too “busy.” So I’ve decided to stop using facebook for a while and will hopefully turn to a newer version of social networking, whatever that may be.

I don’t know if anyone out there feels the same way like I do. I know a ton of people who are still obsessed with facebook. I’m not against it or anything and I love the idea of keeping in touch with your high school friends. But I just need a little break from that mess. I don’t know when I’ll log back on but for now, I’m enjoying just sticking to my good old pal: my blog. :)

Ooh and sorry I’ve been m.i.a. but nothing much has really happened lately. I’m going through a kind of boring phase right now. haha :)

I might do a shopping spree with some hair products I got. We’ll see…

One thing I like about the winter season: BOOTS!

I love all kinds of boots: suede, leather, buckles, ruffles, uggs, flats, heels, and so the list goes on and on.

I recently went on a shopping spree with my roommate and we went crazy in this small shoe store. Here are some pics:

1) The first one is a long wrinkled faux-leather style with a buckle in the back. I love these wrinkled boots because you can wear it casually with a long loose black cardigan or top, but you can pair it with a skirt or leggings and a nice coat to look very dressy. These are fun if you want to stand out and look trendy.

2) The 2nd one is a medium gray color which I absolutely love! I’ve been looking everywhere for gray boots. It’s very casual and I like to wear them with all black to make the gray color really pop and stand out. I like to fold the boots to give it a more fashionable look.

3) These boots are mid-calf and although I originally suggested these to my roommate, I’m going back soon to buy a pair for myself. I usually don’t like mid-calf on my slender legs, but it’s starting to grow on me. It’s just very fun for a casual look. The belt style on the boots also give a chic rocker look which can look adorable when paired with the right dress.

There ya have it…another shopping spree. And trust me, I aint done yet. I have been doing some serious shopping this past week…oy vey…everytime I get my hands on some money, it seems to disappear so quickly. :X

Catch ya later!

Can I tell you how much I love bargain shopping… but at the same time, how much I hate it? Let me tell you a random story that happened today:

So I’m bored, hanging out with my roommates all day, and I decide to jump online and look for bargain furniture. Not because I need it or anything, but just for fun.

Well I realize it’s been really hard to survive without a t.v. in my bedroom, so I search for some tv deals online. I find an ad for a tv, dvd player, VCR, and a tv stand…all for $40!!!!!! This guy was having a huge moving out sale and wanted to get rid of all his furniture. SCORE!!!

Ok I usually don’t buy furniture at the spur of the moment but COME ON! $40!!! Can’t pass that by. I drove over to the seller’s house with my roommate, Drea. The t.v. was waaay bigger in person than when I saw it online. It was nice and the tv stand even had racks for dvds. So immediately Drea, the nice young seller, and I all grabbed the tv (which weighed a ton) and tried to fit it in my Drea’s hyundai elantra. Next thing you know, it pours down like crazy on us. So I see Drea’s comfy thick blanket and we throw it on top of the tv to prevent it from getting soaked. We’re running around like crazy, trying to fit the damn tv into the backseat. It felt like we were playing tetris, moving things around trying to see what fit where.

Next thing we know, a big gust of wind blows away the tv stand and it rolls away and hits a gutter, causing a few of the dvd holders to slip into the gutter. It was a nightmare!

So then the rain disappeared and we were still struggling with the tv but we let out a breath of relief because the rain had stopped and we were soaked. All of a sudden, the rain decides to come back! Sheesh.

After finally fitting everything in the car, we drove home, laughed the whole thing off, and grabbed some Pinkberry. It was just a really funny sitcom-like experience that I just had to tell everyone. It worked out well because the tv and stand are beautiful. See:

Ok I have the income of a college student ok??!! Whaddaya expect danmmit?

It’s old school but that’s me, a simple gal. Gonna blog again soon and maybe do a fashion roll!

Hey hey hey!

I’m still here…going to really start being busy at work the next few days. But i also want to keep this site as alive as possible which is why i’m blogging a completely random blog today. Nope, no topic here today. Just wanted to update the site.

Basically, I want to change the site and make a drastic change by adding little goodies and widgets all around the site. I’m waiting for my brother to help me with hosting so I can start adding a little spice to this site. Here are some of the things you guys can look forward to in my new revised site:

1. “About Me” -
(Going to add a better, more in depth “About me” page, as well as more pages)
2. TagBoard -
(Adding a tagboard for quick and easy comments and so you all can chat with each other)
3. T.V./Movie Recaps –
(Not sure if I’m going to do movie spoilers but I def. want to add a section of all my favorite t.v. shows where I can summarize the weekly shows and everyone who watches it can discuss it. It’s fun for people who miss an episode and want to keep updated. I’m going to start this with True Blood’s new season and Jersey Shore’s new season too)
4.  Ask Hunni -
(I had this in my old website in 2003 and it was a hit! I had so many random, perverted, twisted, weird, confusing, invasive, and rude questions asked to me on a daily basis. And trust me, I really do answer almost everything! I can’t wait to bring this back!)
5. Therapy Session -
(I’ve always wanted this! I talked with a few other girls and I’m thinking of adding a therapy section for Relationships, Peers, and Love life. I’m going to have 3 advice experts give their thoughts to people who need it most. You’ll have to chance to submit any questions or concerns and you’ll get a fun response immediately! I might join in on the fun and give you my thoughts too!)
6. Cam -
(I’ve always had a cam whenever I had a website but since I don’t have a host right now, it’s kind of hard to find where I can save all my photos and update them frequently, so just wait a little bit and I will have a much updated cam for you in the near future)

So there you have it. These are some of the fun things I’m adding to the site. I’m slowly working on them and will have them up in no particular order. Whatever comes first. I will update tomorrow loves! TTYL! ;)

Have you heard of this new phenomenon?

I’ve recently heard about it, about a few days ago and I was so pumped up about it, I stayed up til 4am watching Youtube videos on it.

Basically it’s a new hair procedure that infuses your hair with protein and nutrients to actually improve the health of your hair. Best of all, it takes less than 2 hours to do!

Here are some of what it has to offer:
1. If you have curly hair, it will bring out the curls. If you have wavy hair, it gives it a polished, straighter look. If you have straight hair, you get a healthy bounce and shine.
2. Unlike hair rebonding which can cause your hair to fall out or break off, this is completely safe so you can still color your hair, style it any way you please (including curls!) and your hair will not be limp, but it will have more life.
3. Guarantees to get rid of frizz
4. Cuts your styling time in half. You can get out of the shower, dry it, and you’re ready to go.
5. Your hair will be tangle free and smooth

These run about $150-400 all over, depending which place you go. But guess what? I might be able to do it for free since I signed up to be one of the models to do it. I will DEFINITELY take pictures. I’ve lived with wavy hair all throughout my life and straightening it on a daily basis has killed my hair. Plus, I can’t seem to get away from blonde hair and I’m constantly coloring it. This will be a nice little breather for my hair.

Here’s a “Before and After” picture I found on their website:

I am really excited about this new line! Also, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Audrina Patridge, Jennifer Anniston, Halle Berry, and so many celebrities have been trying this out. It looks amazing!

Have you ever chemically straightened your hair? Let me know!

Yes, we’ve all been through it. Those annoying, tricky, diabolical questions that have us all fuddled. In today’s tough economy, standing out in job interviews is crucial. You need to do whatever you can to not let the job slip away, and yes that means, attempting to answer these tough questions that make us cringe…

I’ve been doing a lot of research on the toughest interview questions that we oh-so-love to hear and here are some answers I think would work well. Oh the questions we dread…

1. Why do you want to work for this company?

OPTION A: Here is when you really want to do research on the company. (If the thought of researching the company and reading all the long details are too stressful for you, then choose another occupation because obviously, this job doesn’t hold your interest and if you can’t read a few pages about this job, then what makes you think you can work there?) So find out the info. and incorporate it in your answer. It really makes you look knowledgeable and it impresses them when you actually know a thing or two about their company and what they do.

OPTION B: Mentioning your past experience can also help. If you’re applying for a receptionist position, you can throw in: With my three years experience of being a receptionist, I feel that all the knowledge I’ve gained from the company can really help aid your company. etc. etc.
You can get really creative with this and you definitely want to try to mix Option A with Option B together. If you mention their company, don’t forget to mention what you can do for their company and back-up your debate with experience examples.

2. What is your biggest weakness?

Now I’ve never been asked this question in an interview and hopefully you won’t have to. But there’s a chance you might. Nowadays, the top answers to avoid are: I’m a perfectionist or I’m such a hard worker. Because honestly, that’s not a weakness and it’s such a bullshit way to get around the answer. Interviewers are not robots. They’re not stupid. They can sense when someone is not being truthful.

The reason why they’re even asking you is because they expect someone who can:

A. Name a reasonable, yet minor flaw. (This shows how honest you are, but not stupid enough to give a major flaw)
B. Give an example of how they struggled with the flaw in previous work experience. (This shows that you are rational and you are willing to admit your mistakes)
C. Shown how they have overcome the flaw and have grown. (This shows that you are a mature person who can make a mistake, own up to it, and create a resolution to solve it.)

Telling them a genuine mistake you’ve made but then telling them that you’ve resolved it shows a lot of character about you. You know humans make mistakes, but you’ve fixed your ways. Try something simple like, “I’ve always been introverted but in my last job, I was able to give a lecture to an entire classroom, etc.” Let them know what you’ve done to fix that problem and make sure to not give a problem that is not fixable like “I’m always tardy.”

3. What is your salary expectation?

RESEARCH! Go to Salary.com and find out what your job is normally paid. In this economy, I feel that most of the time, the salary is a lot higher than usual, so try to get a feel of the company to get an idea of how much they pay. You can ask other people you know with similar jobs too.

OPTION A: Once you’ve found out, the best way to answer this is:
I would expect my salary to be equal to my contributions and since I am confident I can contribute significantly to your company, I feel that asking for [insert amount here] is reasonable.

Or you can say anything along the lines of that. Or another way you can go is this:

OPTION B: You can mention the considerable amount of experience you have, mention a bachelor’s degree or any experience of relevance and importance, and that will help them consider a higher salary based on your experience. Internships, special classes, and volunteer work count too!

OPTION C: You can also mention why you’re better than other candidates. Maybe you’re available on call and you can fill in for someone’s shift or you’re available when someone is out sick. Or maybe you have a ton of experience in that certain field. Or maybe you’ve done something creative that made you stand out from the rest. Be competitive!

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ve heard by doing research online that people have actually answered, “One day I want to manage my own company,” or “Have a business in fashion, etc.” No no no. This one’s actually simple. Even if you want the job temporarily, always always assume that the company wants you for the long run. They don’t want someone who’s just going to ditch them after a couple of months, they want someone who is really dedicated in helping the company grow. So to be safe, just say, “I would still like to be progressing within the company and hopefully one day be promoted to a higher position.” Always relate this question to the company and you’ll be good.

Well hope these tips help. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be sure to add them!

Look at this concept for a Tokyo car. It looks awesome but I don’t know how safe & practical it is for that doggie there. Cute idea though. I would definitely like to have my yorkies with me everywhere except they would jump outta that confined space and probably hop onto my lap to look out the window. So it would be pretty useless for me…

Yayyy…I’ve been going accessory shopping a lot lately. I bought a bunch more but these are my favorite out of the bunch.

This is a pretty amber ring I got from Macy’s. You can’t really see the golden-yellowish color in the picture but it’s very bright. This is a fun ring to dress up a casual outfit because it stands out and pops.

Liz Claiborne is SO affordable and she makes the cutest wallets. I bought one of these wallets and gave it to my mom, and I saw an exact match so I bought one for myself too. They sell these at Macy’s. Has kind of a leather/snakeskin look to it. So chic!

Got this bracelet from a small vintage store but I think you can get it at Forever 21 too. It’s actually dark metallic gray with clear glass-like crystals in the middle. It looks yellow in the picture but it’s more of a clear and it just picks up light from other things. Probably the yellow lamp in the room. This is my favorite bracelet! I love chunky, bold pieces; it’s very trendy.

I’m obsessed with lariat necklaces. I love the style and it’s just easy to dress up an outfit. You can’t tell but the necklace has a rope design and there are some crystals to bling it up. I got this necklace at Charlotte Russe. So much fun!

Well, there you have it. Another shopping spree episode. Best part: got all of these for under $45. Pretty good deal right?

Ta ta!

Nooo, my beloved roommate Drea might be moving out to go to school! I’m so sad. But here a few pictures to remember her  by.

We had nothing better to do, and plus, I wanted you all to see my playboy bunny wall-art!

Me, lying in bed

Meeee again! The bunny is slightly showing..

Me and Drea!

Drea making a face! HAHAHAH (The bunny is in full force)

Sorry again for the crappy picture quality! I’ve been losing my camera usb cable and I really need to upgrade to a laptop that has a built in memory card reader. My comp’s webcam is so blurry! I promise I will have clear pics soon! Or maybe I’ll do more of these random webcam pics cause it kind of looks like I’m video-camming with you all. Very intimate! =)

So have you seen this new show about 8 Italians who live together in a house in Jersey, have their lives taped and you also get to see who stops being polite and starts getting real???

Okay that was lame…but seriously Jersey Shore is one of the most controversial, most talked about shows today, especially in my personal social circle.

When I first started seeing commercials popping up everywhere promoting the show, I definitely thought the show was going to be a joke. It looked like a waste of time…8 people who want to drink, party, beat up people, and who are full of themselves, right? Well, the more and more I watched the show, the more I became infatuated with these characters and with the whole Guido/Guidette community as a whole.

In case you don’t watch the show and my references are a bit confusing for you, a Guido is a person of Italian descent who are a part of the working class urban Italian American community and the term is constantly linked to thuggish males with tough, macho attitudes. A guidette is kind of the same deal but targeted to females. (Thanks again Wikipedia, old pal)

After watching a few episodes, you see the usual drama where people are fighting, arguing, etc. But one particular thing I’ve noticed is that they don’t fight only with each other like in Real World, but they fight FOR each other against people who stereotype them or criticize them. It really makes the entire cast look like a tight unit or a family rather than just roommates. The bonds with one another are very genuine and you feel like you know them too.

A lot of concern from viewers is mainly because the show puts Italians in a bad light and reinforces stereotypes. So I totally understand why people would be pissed. If there was a show with 8 Asian-American strangers living in a house, all looking like brainy geeks or perceived in a certain way, I would get really embarrassed because I wouldn’t want anyone to categorize me as one of them.

On the other hand, I watch Jersey Shore and I learn so much about this Italian subculture and I really don’t watch and think “Oh all Italians are like that,” but it’s more like, “Wow. This is a new atmosphere and a new culture I’ve never explored. It’s so interesting.” I just think there are different social groups where people find they fit in and can make a bond with other people, and this happens to be one of the groups. I honestly think they are all just having fun and having a good time and trying to be as happy as possible, and other people are hating on them because of their negative stereotypes.

I mean, as long as they’re not hurting anyone, I think it’s fine. The show is damn entertaining, so don’t knock it til you try it. lol

Give me your views.
